Considering this is Europe's largest wreck, there's surprisingly little information
about this as a dive. I dived it probably about 4 or 5 times in 2003, and it
is an amazing dive. The scale of this wreck is awesome. You can look up tonnage
and the history of what happened elsewhere, but here's some info from what I
remember.
#The currents and tides are considerable in this area
#she's about 300m long
#The bow is an amazing site, sitting in about 35m and coming to within 6m of
the surface, it's a bulbous bow and swimming a few tens of metres away with
decent vis is stunning
#Penetration is relatively easy and there are some massive openings and rooms
to explore
#The seabed in the area is made entirely of the cargo of iron ore (small round
pellets)
#It is possible to descend onto 'seabed' (iron-ore), swim for 10 mins and not
see anything (besides fish/lobster life etc) until you come to the edge of a
cargo hold, which are probably 15-20m high
#Vis can be stunning on this dive
#It's covered in life
#We dived it with Baltimore diving
